Beach Excursion with my youth group

picture: Peruvian teens in front the bus

Due to a generous donation in the community, I was able to organize a trip to the beach for my youth group. We had a great time and was much needed for the teens. Some of them havenĀ“t been to the beach in years and they live less than an hour away!

The kids decided to tackle me and bury me against my will.

We played soccer and beach volleyball all afternoon.

In Peru, its not common to be stranded out in the middle of nowhere due to the fact your transportation breaks down. You can almost count on it! We got it started after we all pushed the bus.

Birthday Suprise Pary

Picture: Noah and his youth group

Last December I celebrate 4 birthdays in one! In the morning on the 8th the police invited me to eat Ceviche (marinated fish that is cooked in lime juice) my favorite dish in Peru, then when I arrived back at work, my youth group secretely planned a suprise party for me. After lunch, I arrived at my house where my peruvian family cooked for me and all the relatives showed up. That evening, I had a small party at the house with my peace corps and peruvian friends. My favorite gift was a can of shaving cream from Peruvian Grandma Gladys. She said I needed to shave!
